The Illegal Immigration "problem"
Apr 25 - Steve Lonegan Event Follow up
After a Steve Lonegan presentation, some average concerned citizens much like myself presented me with a letter outlining some wasteful spending and problems due to illegal immigration. Read their letter and details of the Steve Lonegan event here

There is no simple solution to this very complex problem. I don't support amnesty for illegal aliens in any way, shape or form. There is no reason for any illegal alien to be living within the borders of our nation as this nation offers a legal means of earning citizenship or visas. The "problem" is that for the past 20 years Frank Pallone, along with many others in all levels of the government, has ignored this problem and estimates are that we have over 20 million illegal aliens in our country at this point. Clearly, there is no way to arrest 20 million people. Clearly, there is no way to charter enough planes to fly these people back to whatever country they came from. Clearly, there is really no way to even determine where these people came from in the first place, after all, if one is asked for proof of citizenship, and can't produce the needed documents, and we ask "well where are you from because we're sending you back", a smart person wouldn't give an answer, would insist they are from the US or might even suggest they are from a 3rd country, and after we book a $200 flight to get this person to said 3rd country, that country is going to ask for the paperwork, and the person won't have paperwork for that country either, and so there is complete limbo for ever, and once we arrest said illegal, they are on the dime of you and I, the US taxpayers.

It's still worse, imagine you want to round up all 20 million illegal, the only way to do so would be to have the police, or the military, or some branch of government knock on every door, demand "your papers" and move on, which would create a huge problem in itself as every legal American would have their privacy invaded in the search, not to mention such a search of people is incredibly fascist sounding and unacceptable to the majority of our society, self included.

What to do...
It's just a thought, it not a perfect plan because if there was a perfect plan, surely someone would have come up with that plan by now and executed that plan, right? So how to we get these illegal aliens out of the country? I'll outline a plan in steps:
1) Vote out Frank Pallone and any other career politician that panders to these groups, or has supported 20 years of programs that make it easy for these people to access the services our tax dollars provide, or make it attractive (and possible) for people to come to this country illegally.
2) Stop purchasing goods and services from companies who employ illegal aliens and punish the hiring managers and owners of such companies either financially or through criminal charges, namely tax evasion as money paid to these companies and then to it's illegal workers evades the income tax (which we should get rid of anyhow) and any other taxes. If you suspect that the bus boy at the dinner is illegal, don't be ashamed to "profile", it is your duty as an American citizen to help protect this nation. Stop punishing people for "profiling" people or groups who are good likely targets, ie, people who aren't speaking English, which should be declared as the official language.
3) Get Frank Pallone and other politicians who allow illegal immigration to continue out of office.
4) Secure our borders using fences, moats, armed border guards, armed and ready to fire ships and aircraft, rabid dogs or any means possible. "A nation without borders is not a nation" - Ronald Reagan - there should be no case where any undocumented human crosses into this country from any other country without our agencies knowing the identity, origin, destination and intentions of said person. Invasion of privacy? Hardly. These "guests" are just that, "guests". I don't permit guests in my home to take anything they want on the way out, or stay as long as they want. If you come into my home, you speak my language, assimilate to my rules, leave with what you came with or what I knowingly give you to take away and you leave when I tell you "go home" because I'm going to bed. "Guests" should not have an open invitation to do as they please and stay as long as desired, most of us would not allow this in our own homes, and we should not allow this in our nation either.
5) Vote for a working class taxpayer like me who agrees with you that getting rid of illegals is better for the economy and better for our national security.
6) Pay illegals to go somewhere else. Expensive? Hardly. Want to get rid of 20 million illegals the cheap way? Pay them to leave. Consider the financial burden these people are on us tax payers and the burden they will be for the rest of their lives. Just as your employer might offer you a severance package to leave your job, we can offer illegals a severance package to leave our country. The cost would be less to the tax payer than supporting these people for years to come and with a secure border, there should be no way for more illegals to come here just for the severance package. Heavy fines from step 2 helps cover these costs. Additionally, as part of your severance package from work, you might be prohibited from working for the company again, or you might agree not to bad mouth your employer, etc, so in likeness, as part of the severance package, each illegal agrees to be finger printed and documented and if he or she is found in the country illegally again, they agree to be charged with treason, which is punishable by death. Paid to leave; deadly to come back. Obviously, like your employment severance package, our first offering pays well, and as time goes on, the payouts get less and less, and at some point, just like your employer fires the last few holdouts, we "fire" the last few holdouts with either jail time (since there should be so few by then, the cost to jail a few thousand would be more reasonable), treason charges, or deported to any nation that will take them. Harsh? Maybe, but then that is the penalty you pay for doing something illegal in the first place and you could have certainly taken our offer(s) to leave. Again, is it "expensive" to pay 20 million people to leave? Yes, but the cost is minimal compared to the cost of providing welfare or paying for increased services (roads, schools, etc) for these people for the rest of their lives, not to mention that if and when these illegals have children, our current laws make their children citizens, which is another law we need to change.

Extreme measures, yes, but again, national sovereignty depends on, and begins with, secure borders.

What's the big deal, they just want to work here?
So do most Americans, aside from a few lazy ones who want to milk the system and live on public welfare, and why shouldn't they - illegals get free handouts that they don't deserve, at least lazy American citizens are citizens. But why is it that "unskilled workers" are forced to take minimum wage jobs, only to be treated poorly by their employer? It's because there is high availability of "unskilled workers". Most illegals aren't coming here to become doctors, scientists, investment bankers or the like, they are coming here to work entry level, "unskilled labor" jobs, which are generally low wage jobs that provide minimal benefits. These happen to be the jobs that are in high demand for many young Americans, for example high school students, looking for a first job. Incidentally, because there is such high demand (mostly from illegals) for low-wage entry level work, it is impossible for you and I, the average American worker, to negotiate a higher wage, or better treatment, from an employer because the available worker pool is so high. If there were 20 million less illegals, there might be 20 million more jobs available for Americans, meaning that job availability would exceed demand giving you and I, the working class tax payers, with a better opportunity to negotiate a higher wage and better treatment, otherwise an employer might not be able to find a replacement worker. Again, the "savings" in not paying unemployment benefits to legal Americans who would be able to work would help offset the cost of paying illegals to leave.

Also consider that illegal aliens may, or may not, have the vaccinations that you and I were forced to receive. Regardless of if you are for, or against, forced vaccinations, the fact remains that an illegal alien might be carrying some diseases that are prevalent in other countries but don't exist here in the US. These illegal aliens might be the cook, or the bus boy, at your local diner, preparing or otherwise coming in close contact with, your food while carrying a foreign disease.

It's not a perfect plan, and there are certainly cost and "moral" issues with such a plan, however what is certain is that such a plan works better than allowing career politician Frank Pallone to spend our tax money catering to illegals, for 20 years, and costing us money for eternity. Illegal aliens are not the sole reason for our poor economy, but they do play a large part in the spread of disease, gang violence, crime and a deteriorating low-wage job market. Clearly, some would just that giving criminals money is a reward for their criminal behavior of crossing the border illegally, but again, clearly, many of the other possible solutions, like deporting 20 million people to "somewhere", at our expense, seem unrealistic. I hate the sound of paying criminals to go leave, but it certainly beats our current system which pays them (our tax money) to stay.
